Sharing with you my son’s balance bike progress in a span of 7 weeks. For all googling parents out there searching for reviews and opinions, here is one from a mom who was once adamant about balance bikes!
I am all for toys that are developmentallyappropriate for my son. I support toys that enhances gross motor skills, self confidence and independence. I was honestly hesitant with balance bikes at first time because it’s a bit pricey and scared that it might be too risky, but only the opposite is true! I think it actually lessens the risk of self injury by practising self regulation and by having them in control of their own speed with their little feet on the ground. I also like that it’s all for outdoor exploration wherein we have easily taught him safety precautions such as stopping when there’s a car, stopping on STOP signs and looking left and right to check before riding, and lots of educational stopovers.
My son loves it and has named his bike “Silly” so every afternoon, he will say “Silly Time!” Ahh, we just love it
It’s a good investment and def for a long term use. My husband decided to go with the Strider brand and the quality is 100% to be honest. It’s light weight and will definitely last long. Certainly not a fad at all❤
Hope this video can be of help to all parents wondering if they should get a balance bike or not! They say they can start as early as 18mos, D started at 29 mos, because..... Canadian winter . I would say when your child is ready and of course, no forcing. Happy coasting!
