At the request of the Greek ruler of Egypt, Ptolemy II, 72 Hebrew scholars are translating the Old Testament into Greek. It’s a monumental task that they will complete in an astounding 72 days. For the next six centuries, the Septuagint (which means 70 in Greek) will become the most widely used Bible in the Middle East. But wait.
