At LKA, Ladies Kennel Association, the last championship dog show of 2013, Best in Show judge Frank Kane had a big part to play in the outcome of the DOG WORLD Arden Grange Top Dog competition to crown the best dog of the year as well as Best in Show winner.
The Terrier group winner in the ring was Wire Fox, Ch Travella Striking Steel whose's breakout year saw him in second place for the year trailing the Standard Poodle Ch Afterglow Maverick Sabre, who was not attending the last show of the year. The only way Oliver the Wire Fox Terrier could win was to take the last Best in Show of the year but no one was to know how close he would come finishing Reserve Best in Show.
Frank Kane awarded the top prize, Best in Show to the Samoyed Ch Nikara Diamond Dancer, his Best in Show win in 2013 and handing Top Dog 2013 to the Poodle.

Just a few months into 2014 anticipation was building in the hope we would see 2013's Top Dogs, Oliver the Wire Fox and Standard Poodle Ricky in the Best in Show ring at Crufts. However Oliver failed to get out of the breed, but Ricky was joined in the Best in Show ring at Crufts by the Samoyed Dantheman who had denied Oliver Top Dog.

This time Poodle Ricky, got the better of Dan winning Best in Show at Crufts 2014 with the Samoyed Reserve Best in Show.

2014 turned out to be Oliver's year, he went on to take his total for Best in Show wins up to a recordbreaking 21 and winning Top Dog by some distance. Even coming back to LKA a year later and going one step further, and signing off the year with Best in Show at the NEC in Birmingham.
