Race week of the 2024 NYC Marathon. We made it to the end of another marathon build. This week we did our classic 4 x mile repeat session on Tuesday dialing in marathon pace. During the intervals, I did some last minute bottle and shoe testing. All systems go. We got into NYC on Wednesday and the rest of the week was full of interviews, meetings, shakeout runs, massages, bottle prep, and race planning.
Thanks to Stryd for powering this episode. The day before the race I reviewed my data with the Stryd team and we discussed key strengths that I could capitalize on during the race. We found my metabolic and mechanical fatigue is super resilient given my training–which means my body can respond well to the surging of the rhythm breaking hills and championship style racing. Race day was a good day. I took 7th place running a time of 2:09:21. What a year it has been. Four marathons in 14 months on some of the biggest stages of marathon running. I am so grateful to my support crew and to each of you for following the journey.
