A few months ago I made a video testing Flex Seal and how it might work in a tile shower application. Since then, I received a request from one of my viewers for me to use flex seal in their shower remodel. Their shower had been built using RedGard and it failed horribly and was leaking. So they really wanted me to use Flex Seal, and I'm really glad we did it. In this video I explain the mechanics of a waterproof shower pan and drain system and how it works with the Flex Seal as the waterproofing membrane. Although Flex Seal is not specifically designed to use in shower systems, I am confident that it will work in this application.
Please do not try this at home! I have many years experience as a professional tile installer and I have done hundreds of hours of testing to understand the engineering and mechanics of these systems. If you are a DIY'er, it is probably best to stick with a 40 mil PVC pan liner or Schluter Kerdi.
