Dr. Foote presents two studies of transdermal gabapentin. the 2018 pharmacokinetics study of gabapentin (IV, Oral and Transdermal) and the 2021 transdermal study ( transdermal medication only). The 2018 study did could not measure any detectable level of gabapentin after one dose. The 2021 study measured theraputic levels after 1 day of dosing.
Explore the differences in these studies, and why there may be these conflicting results. The second study did find improved pain scores on cats who were given transdermal gabapentin. In my experience, gabapentin is effective when given transdermally for pain relief.
