The morning after the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad dropped 6 rail cars off the tracks in Iron Mountain, Michigan a huge crane was on site next to the Fire Department to help lift these full Smart Siding centerbeam cars back onto the rail. They spent a few hours completing as much as they could until the rail was rolled over and spikes were popping out. The crane operator told me each end weighed 122,000 pounds!
There will be a second part showing what ELS 502 and ELS 1221 did with the cars that derailed and the rest of their train they left sitting. Stay tuned for that second part!
