For more information, visit: https://www.miltenyibiotec.com/DEen/... The liver is a very good example of how tissue architecture can influence aging. Composed mainly of hepatocytes, the position of these cells is key to their role and determines changes in their metabolism and aging profile.

Researchers from the Max Planck Institute have used a novel perfusion technique for obtaining viable and functional hepatocytes from resected liver using the gentleMACS™ Technology. Afterwards, they have conducted an indepth multiomics analysis of functional and healthy hepatocytes, characterizing transcriptional, epigenetic, lipidomic and functional signatures to understand the effects of aging.

Liver perfusion technology is a novel technique that allows researchers to obtain viable hepatocytes in an easy and reproducible manner. It requires minimal training and effort, and yields highly viable hepatocytes that can be used downstream in any application.
