I stopped my bike, my heart pounding, and walked toward him.
His sad eyes met mine, silently pleading, "please help me."
There were no houses or people around—he had been left all alone.
The sight of this innocent, beautiful creature abandoned broke my heart.
He reached for my Coke bottle cap, trying to bite it, begging for water.
It was clear—he was starving and thirsty.
I couldn't leave him there.
I decided to save him, to give him a second chance.
I named him Coke, after that small moment of connection.
