What happens when one cat likes to play fight but the other cat is not in the mood?

Ficus (Japanese bobtail) and Giro (tuxedo cat) were both rescue kittens. On January 3, 2021 we found Ficus hiding underneath a pickup truck. He was tiny, dirty, starving, skinny, and full of fleas and ear mites. He was about 3 months old. He will soon turn 4 in September 2024.

Giro was rescued by another family in 2022 when he was a tiny kitten. Giro was about 6 months old when he was introduced to Ficus. Since then the two cats have become regular playmates and have gotten very close. Sometimes they have spats and have real fights but they eventually reconcile.
