White sharks were once abundant off the coast of South Africa. Recently killer whales appeared in the region and began to kill white sharks and in a grisly twist, they ate their livers. In response, white sharks abandoned the area and no one knows for sure where they have gone. A collaborative team of researchers worked together to satellite tag white sharks off the coast of South Africa to determine where the elusive sharks have gone.
Collaborators include Ocean First Institute, South African National Parks, Rhodes University and the Ocean Conservation Exploration and Education Foundation.
