Field equations related to General Relativity revealed the possibility of celestial bodies with mass so great that nothing, not even light, could escape from them. Einstein thought this was an anomaly, but by the 1960s evidence for the existence of Black Holes was growing. In 2017 a collaboration between radio telescopes around the world managed to capture an image of the swirling activity surrounding a Black Hole.
