Thanks for watching and we can't wait to share more pf our build and adventures with you.
Our van is a VW Crafter Long Wheel Base LWB 4 Motion (4x4/AWD) Van.
In this video, I walk you through the process of installing a 660Ah Victron power system in our 4x4 VW Crafter van build. The electrical system is one of the trickiest and most crucial parts of any van build, and I'm breaking it down step by step to make it less daunting. I start by unboxing all the components, including two 330Ah Victron batteries and a 3000W Multiplus 2 inverter—way bigger than I expected! I then explain how I’ve built the electrical cupboard and laid out all the components to ensure everything fits into the limited space.
I go into detail about how I mounted everything, from the inverter to the battery protectors, fuse boards, and other components, while using proper wiring techniques, wire gauges, and lugs. To make it easier to work in such a tight space, I used Riv nuts to secure everything safely without damaging the van walls.
Throughout the build, I tackled a lot of problemsolving, like how to fit the heavy batteries securely and how to build around the curved van walls. I even made some custom solutions, like ironon laminate strips to finish off the shelving and suede lining to give it a professional, polished look.
In this first part, I focus on constructing the cupboard and mounting the components. In part two, I’ll be wiring everything up and finalizing the system to make sure it’s fully functional. Even though this is my first time doing something like this, with a good wiring diagram and some patience, I’m confident I’ll get everything working.
