The Ohio Principal Standards 3, 5, 7, and 10 speak to the need for principals to support and provide staff development. The principal as the lead learner is critical to the establishment and growth of the school as a learning community. Principals who encourage, nurture and support teacher learning communities through instructional leadership are better able to implement changes in teachers’ classroom practices which ultimately leads to increased student success.
