WARNING: IMAGES OF ACCIDENT AFTERMATHS WHICH SOME MIGHT FIND DISTURBING. The two became close friends and Cevert was being prepared to lead the championship challenge after Stewart's retirement, when an accident claimed his life in the most brutal of ways, even by 1970s F1 standards.
