We study the Airy differential equation, which is a second order nonconstant coefficient linear differential equation. We use the power series method to find solutions to this equation. We see that power powers which are multiples of three or multiples of three plus one appear in the series expansion. The sign of x determines if there will be oscillations or exponential growth in the solutions.
