Harriet gives both E's a long session in allopreening or grooming of their feathers. The eaglets are acquainted with preening themselves but not with Mom allopreening them. This is a natural grooming instinct of birds to keep their feathers in good shape and to distribute oil from the uropygial gland located at the base of the tail to distribute to their feathers to waterproof them.
Harriet starts allopreening E18 who ends up moving around to get away from her grooming but is trapped on the nest lol Harriet will then start allopreening E17 and she goes back and forth between her E's! This is another rite of passage as Harriet has allopreening all of her eaglets! Thank you for watching!
