SWFL Eagles 9-13-24. Cam Maintenance Day!

The official start of Florida Bald Eagle breeding season is October 1st, and runs through May 15th. M15 and F23 have been visiting the nest pasture/nest tree, perching together, aerating their nest, and bringing in a few nest materials (pair bonding activity). The cams are expected to go live by 101. I linked the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam official Facebook page below the time stamps for any updates.

M15 and F23 did not visit the pasture this morning. Maintenance on the cameras started late morning, a time when the eagles are typically not around the pasture. This ground video opens with CityTel arriving, followed by the lift used to access the nest tree. An extension was added and secured to the spike, and Cam2 was remounted. Views of the cams are shown from the E and S sides. Cam1 and the 360 cams were cleaned, but were not moved (this is not shown, and it was happening as I was preparing to leave). The heat index was 110 at the time the work was being done. Hopefully M15 and F23 found a nice shady spot to spend the day.

Next up are views from earlier in the morning of The Herd. Video closes with views of the nest, prior to the cam maintenance work being done. Time stamps below, if interested. Click on any time stamp to advance to that part.
