E21 & E22 are 68/66 days old and are showing impressive gains in strength by winging and hopping across the nest. E21 is at the rails and will hop right over E22 and go to the other side of the nest! E21 will show off those beautiful wings and go back and forth on the nest. Next up is E22 who will grab a nestover with its foot and then wing to the other side of the nest too.
An eagle's wingspan will vary between 5.5 feet (males) and 8 feet in length (females). When E21 spread its wings it went across the width of the nest!
Both E's are at the rails (E21 on the left) and we have some nice closeups of E22's face and then its feet, and a white patch of feathers on its chest ♥ E21 is seen sunning itself on the rails and opens up and spreads it wings to cool off in a beautiful pose!
To see the E's side by side and sweetly sharing beakies reminds us of how far the E's have come in the past ten weeks. We see this every season here at SWFEC where the E's are rivals and engage in bonking and sibling aggression for the first few weeks but then as they get older, they seem to enjoy having a sibling on the nest. Soon they will be branching and then fledging and gaining even more independence. Thank you for watching!
