Miasto, które miało stanowić schronienie. Miasto, które przez 5 lat opierało się wojnie i walczyło. Miasto, któremu gwarancję bezpieczeństwa dawała cała Europa. Miasto, do którego mieszkańców nienawiść była tak wielka, że gdy w końcu przestało się bronić, jego ulice spłynęły krwią tysięcy.

Upadek Srebrenicy i innej enklawy we wschodniej części Bośni – Žepy (25 lipca) przyspieszył koniec wojny w Bośni i Hercegowinie. 30 sierpnia 1995 roku lotnictwo NATO dokonało ciężkich nalotów na pozycje Serbów bośniackich, a po ich zakończeniu do Bośni i Hercegowiny wkroczyła armia chorwacka, która wraz z siłami muzułmańskimi i wojskiem bośniackich Chorwatów rozbiła Serbów. Przegrywający wojnę Serbowie zostali zmuszeni do podpisania układu w Dayton.
