Monitor lizards (Varanus spp.) are among the coolest animals to ever walk the planet. They are certainly some of the coolest lizards alive today. Unfortunately, being a giant, intelligent, active, predatory lizard isn't normally a recipe for a great pet reptile. That said, some monitors actually make good, or at least not entirely unreasonable, pet lizards.
