Shore Friendly Living Episode 2 Managing Shoreline Erosion: Bulkheads or Natural Solutions

This video is the second in a series made by the Northwest Straits Foundation in partnership with other Shore Friendly programs across Puget Sound. The Shore Friendly program was created to provide shoreline landowners with resources to maintain and protect their investments while also protecting the fish and wildlife that need healthy nearshore habitats to thrive.
Puget Sound has over 2,500 miles of shoreline, more than a quarter of which has been hardened in some way over the last century. Most shorelines erode naturally, and we often forget that erosion is part of the processes that are creating our beaches. Our wellintentioned efforts to prevent erosion can have negative effects on both the ecology and geology of the beach.
