Nest Box Observation 2024 EP.21 May 2527, 2024
This video shows the Japanese Tit family in Nest Box 1 from the 45th to 47th day of observation (May 2527), which is also the 14th to 16th day after hatching.

While the mother's behavior of putting nesting material into the chick's mouth was a bit unusual and concerning, the chickrearing process had been going smoothly up until now. However, suddenly, the mother has gone missing!!

It's unclear what happened, and the trail cameras didn't provide any useful clues. It's possible that she got caught up in a territorial dispute and died.

What will become of the father and the lone chick? Although I think the chick is old enough now to survive, I truly hope they can make it through together.
