Over hunting drove Sea Otters in British Columbia, Canada to the brink of extinction in the early 1900s. Efforts from multiple government agencies have revied sea otter populations, created habitat, and improved biodiversity. However, the return of sea otters has meant reductions in traditional foods for coastal Indigenous communities. In this video we explore the successes and challenges of this longterm sea otter reintroduction project.
