Replacing Montreal's lead pipes is a massive task that's not even half done

City crews have spent years replacing the tens of thousands of lead pipes connecting water mains to homes and other buildings. But with the pace of work falling short of the city's goals, the project could take almost another decade to complete.

Correction: A previous version of this video incorrectly used the symbol for milligrams (mg) instead of micrograms (μg) when referring to the acceptable level of lead in tap water. Quebec regulations stipulate that up to 5 micrograms of lead per litre of water consumed is considered safe.
