Another mayoral hopeful, City Commissioner Rene Gonzalez was similarly optimistic Tuesday before the voting deadline, saying his campaign has been hitting the streets hard in the final weeks of the race.

During the campaign, he painted himself as the lawandorder candidate and said he would be an enforcer of the city's camping ban.

"I've been the standard bearer for public safety and livability since entering the public real," he said at his campaign party at Kells in downtown Portland. "That means creating a place for families can thrive, where elders can age in place, where builders and entrepreneurs can have success in the city."
