1965 was an incredible year of controversy in NASCAR. Bill France banned the Hemi, Chrysler bailed out, and the sport's biggest stars went racing elsewhere. It truly was a wild scene.
So wild in fact that one small enterprising group decided to bolt a 671 blower on top of a 426 hemi, put it in a Coronet stock car and attempt to reset the world's closed course speed record at Daytona. They were trying to break a few year old record set by drag racers in an old Indy car with a blown wedge engine. That story can be seen and heard here:

Through the danger, the controversy, and challenges, LeeRoy Yarbrough and Ray Fox had a plan and in February 1965 they put their blown monster on the track and gave it their best shot. How did go? Watch and find out.
This is the story of two men, one car, and how it set the courses of their respective and very different lives.
