This lesson begins our unit in Europe by examining the landforms and waterways of Europe.

Known as the "Peninsula of Peninsulas", the lesson begins by examining the major peninsulas that make up the continent and then identifies some of the major islands. It then explains that Europe's geography of these peninsulas and islands have shaped the character of Europeans and emphasized the importance of the sea and its coastline which is 3 times the length of the United States.

The surrounding seas, channels, and straits of Europe and identified as are some of the major rivers that bring trade into the interior of the continent.

The lesson ends by examining some of the major mountain ranges as well as the North European Plain that is vital to agriculture in the continent.

While this lesson is specifically designed to address certain standards within the Texas Education Knowledge and Skills for the World Geography studies course, it is useful introduction to the physical geography of Europe for all viewers.
