Plenty of names come to mind when you think of singleplayer horror games. Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Amnesia, Clock Tower, the list goes on. But what about multiplayer? We've seen titles like The Outlast Trials make an impact over the past year. However, one of the most popular, Phasmophobia, still endures and is out now on consoles.
What makes the experience so intriguing over others is learning about each ghost type. As part of a ghosthunting crew, you must utilize various tools from cameras and UV lights to spirit boxes and ghostwriting to identify them. Each ghost has different traits, and as the investigation proceeds, the paranormal happenings result in mounting tension.
Even if it's a trialanderror process (without looking up guides, that is) and the lobby browser system could be a lot better, the sheer terror that Phasmophobia instils is refreshing in this day and age.
