Our old stone cabin revealed something we didn’t expect (or want!) to find beneath the existing concrete floor. Head to https://squarespace.com/lifebyliving to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code LIFEBYLIVING
Progress on the tiny stone house renovation went backwards this week or at least that’s how it felt as we destroyed the original floor, ready to build a new concrete slab complete with insulation & damp proof membrane. Though the floor looked okayish, it suffered from terrible rising damp which was to be expected on such an old farmhouse. We had no idea how it was constructed or what lay beneath, so it was time to crack out the trusty jackhammer & get demolishing!
We also celebrated a significant moment on the cottage restoration as we completed the interior stone walls, enclosing the concrete ring beam & finally revealing the finished interior height of the cabin.

We're Ricky & Victoria We're slowly bringing an abandoned off grid Portuguese farm back to life & transforming it into a beautiful homestead for us & our two rescue dogs Teddy & Poppy.
We both agree that we’re not experts in anything that we do here, however we don’t let that stop us from giving it a try. We live our life by trying. We live our life by doing. We live our LIFE BY LIVING.
