In 2002, terrorists took over 800 people hostage at Moscow's Dubrovka Theater, demanding Russia pull its troops out of their homeland. Russian special forces, Group Alpha, used a secret knockout gas to rescue the hostages and stop the attackers, who had bombs and suicide vests. While the mission stopped the bombs and killed the terrorists, 133 hostages died because of the gas and poor medical care afterward.
