Niger: 21 Civilians Killed in an Armed Attack, Military Launches Operation | Firstpost Africa
Niger's military has launched a massive operation in the country's west to hunt down insurgents. This after at least 21 civilians were shot dead last week when assailants on motorbikes attacked a goods convoy. The attack took place last Thursday near the western town of Tera. Thousands of goods and lorries pass through the area daily. It lies near the borders with Mali and Burkina Faso the militaryled nations have also been hit by Islamist insurgency. The frontier lands between the three Sahelian nations have long been a hideout for terrorists linked to terror groups like the Islamic State and AlQaeda. Watch for more details.
