In the heart of Brooklyn's historic Stuyvesant Heights, industrial engineer and tech entrepreneur Oyin Antwi and her husband Jeff, a product designer, have transformed what was once a 'plain white, one bedroom, one bathroom box' into a tranquil urban sanctuary that beautifully blends their West African heritage with Japanese and Scandinavian design influences. Designed with the help of Oyin's sister, interior designer Sade Hoffschroer, with whom Oyin coowns Via Asha Design, their 'AfroJapandi' style home features thoughtful updates that enhance both storage and functionality while preserving the original layout. Clever details like the dropped arched ceiling beam and acoustic wood panelling create distinct zones, while earthy tones, WabiSabi lighting, and custom woodwork achieve the perfect blend of style and comfort.
