Mysterious drones have been flying over New Jersey in recent weeks, and authorities' inability to identify what they are or who is behind them should set off alarms over clear national security gaps, according to one expert.

“Onehundred percent it’s a threat to national security, regardless of who the operator is,” said Ryan Graves, a former Navy fighter pilot and the founder of Americans for Safe Aerospace. “Because this is just demonstrating our lack of coordination, our lack of ability to detect small form factors that are flying at low altitudes, and our inability to respond to it in a timely and effective manner.”

The FBI and other agencies are investigating the drones, which have been flying over parts of New Jersey, including Presidentelect Donald Trump’s golf club and military installations, for over three weeks.
