The MiG25 is a Soviet supersonic fighterinterceptor, created at the Mikoyan and Gurevich Design Bureau in the 1960s.
The aircraft was created as the main component of the unified air defense system of the USSR and was supposed to neutralize the threat of highspeed highaltitude penetration by supersonic strategic bombers and reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force, such as the A12, SR71 and XB70. The MiG25, capable of flying at altitudes of up to 25 km at speeds of up to 3000 km/h, has won many world records and is considered one of the fastest aircraft in the world.
The MiG25 family had many modifications: the basic MiG25P interceptor and MiG25R reconnaissance aircraft, as well as twoseat variants, bombers, carriers of special missiles, and so on.
More than 1,190 aircraft were produced between 1969 and 1985, some of which were exported to several countries in the Middle East and Asia. At the moment, most of the fleet has been removed from service.
