The cylinder head for my MGBGT Autocrosser is back! After the head came back from the machine shop, we took a closer look at it and ended up doing some additional porting off camera to further clean up some areas then talk about what we ended up doing before we look at how much clearance were going to need to have for the valves (the “eyebrow” cutouts it the tops of the cylinder bores) and do some measuring to find out if we have enough. With the cam we installed, and the amount the head has been shaved, this is critical to not have the valves hit the edge of the cylinder walls, and also for airflow around the valve.
We also go through the process of checking the volume of the combustion chambers after having the valve job touched up and replacing the exhaust valves to see how much that volume may have changed.
