Here I'm experimenting with making Ghee for the first time in hopes of using it as the fat source to make Pemmican with. I wasn't sure exactly how the Ghee would turn out and if it did, how well it would work in the Pemmican. As it turns out, the Ghee making went fine, I didn't burn it, Yay! And it works pretty good in Pemmican, at least during cold temps & under shortterm storage conditions. The number one complaint I noticed other people had when making Pemmican was that it wasn't flavorful. So to combat this problem I opted to season my dehydrated meat just like I was making jerky to snack on. This worked very well however I got nervous that it wouldn't have worked and I added additional salt on top of the Pemmican, this was a mistake! My Pemmican turned out pretty darn salty and would have been perfect just with the seasoning in the meat. It was still pretty good but definitely would have been better without the additional salt on top. I don't show in the video but I wrapped each piece of pemmican in waxed paper held together with a small piece of tape and put the wrapped "bars" in a ziploc bag for travel purposes. It held together and was minimally messy to eat this way. This would be a fantastic Ice Fishing Snack or other coldweather activity snack. I will have to test this out during warmer conditions to see how well it holds up in weather that isn't cold/cool.
