Kim Penberthy is a professor of psychiatry and neurobehavioral sciences. She was born and raised in West Virginia where she developed a strong tie to the natural world. As a scientist, she is involved in studies of consciousness phenomena such as afterdeath contacts. She is coauthor of the book "Living Mindfully Across the Lifespan".
