When a cat gives birth to five kittens at a time, they don't always have enough room on her tummy during feeding. That's why the last kitten always has to make its way to the milk, pushing all the others away. Sometimes it bothers the cat and she calms them down by licking them with her tongue. But the fight may continue until the first few kittens are satiated and asleep and the place is vacated. Then the kitten can calm down and eat.
