I always argue that if you aren't running, jumping, and throwing in your workouts, then you're not really pushing or testing your body as you should be.

The point of exercise, to me, is to push the body, test its limits, and undo hours of sitting. If you're just standing in the gym curling weights or sitting on a bench can you really say you're doing that?

If you aren't running, jumping, rolling, throwing... do you really expect your body to hang onto those abilities as you get older?

Is it any wander many of us will lose basic mobility as we age?

In this video, I explain why everyone should jump as part of a functional training program. That can be something small, like skater hops, or something more exciting like parkour and box jumps. Whatever you choose, you'll increase bone density, improve stability, strengthen tendons, and more.
