When I started planning out music videos for my FF7 album at the end of last year, I knew immediately that Jenova was gonna be the perfect one for Halloween, “Seymour 2.0” as I called it  Truthfully I had been looking for an opportunity to oneup that video, especially since my skills have improved so much since then, but it really takes a special kind of track to lend itself to that sort of treatment. Jenova seemed ABSOLUTELY perfect, with so much scary imagery and themes I could easily incorporate in. And even though last October was a nightmare for me (it’s always the most stressful month of my year lol), I figured I could start planning soooo far in advance so as not to kill myself like I did with Seymour (famous last words LOL)

And honestly, my plan would have worked, if Nintendo had not announced a new Zelda game for the Fall, since that changed up my plans for family halloween costumes as well as the channel, and my own personal gaming time LOL But I digress…the truth is, I had one month to make Seymour from start to finish, including the music, and since I had several months to plan this one the plans spiraled soooo far out of control because….I just had so much TIME. The idea to have robed Jenova clones play the backup parts was a passing thought one day, oh this would be easy, just get a grim reaper costume, etc….yeah lol. As usual, after trying many commercial costumes I decided it would be better to make it myself, and it turned into the most elaborate cloak ever. In all I made 4 different costumes for this one, and it was also the first time I have EVERY worked with armor, EVA foam, priming and painting and using a heat gun, and I even got a mild case of heat stroke one day while doing all of this outside  

The Materia violin was….a whole other project haha, but I had considered a design like this for the album cover before I went a different way, and then thought, what if I actually made one as a prop?? So I found a cheap black violin on amazon and an Etsy seller who made Materia bracelets (he was SO nice and offered me flat backed ones when I mentioned what I was using it for, which worked so well for me to just…stick them on there) I ended up spending wayyyy too much on this, considering it was just a prop, but dang if it didn’t look absolutely perfect in the shots  

I know I’ve talked a lot about the video, because that was my focus here, and well, I finished the track almost a year ago so I don’t remember working on the music as much (LOL)…but of course I have to mention my collaborator on this track on drums, Rahul Vanamali. As usual, I wouldn’t even attempt a track like this without knowing he was on board, and his playing adds so much fierce energy to the track!
