Our Love birds have been busy this past week making more frequent visits now that nestoration season is here! Not only do they rearrange existing furniture but they bring plenty more to add to it, just like Jackie's famous pinecone. She also reshapes the nest bole by "pancaking" herself down and kicking her feet out behind her, sort of digging her talons in and pushing the nesting materials or in this case snowy nesting materials, out of the way.❄
She also likes to do a little nestkeeping from that position as well. Do you ever see something from a different angle and have to rearrange it again? That's what I picture going through her mind sometimes. She even worked on her rolypolypinecone with her beak, twisting it around and spinning it, almost like a little dradle. After awhile, Shadow even bent down to see what she was doing and gave her a gentle beaky. "Everything OK, Dear?"
Shadow sneaks a peek under her again just to make sure she didnt happen "drop" anything... like an egg. Way too early Shadow! And of course, I had to record them both standing together as the wind gives their head feathers a nice little "blowout". I just love them to pieces!
For those wondering why you're seeing other nests with eggies already, it's because those are on the East Coast in South West Florida where the weather and daylight hours are different from where Jackie & Shadow are, here on the West Coast. We will begin egg watch in January! Right now they are in PREP mode!!
