Rita Konig welcomes us into her London home, created by combining two flats. Eager to have more room for herself and her daughter, Rita Kong bought the flat above her London home and merged them to create one cohesive space that has all the trademarks of her design, including inventive details, bold use of pattern and a blending of the beautiful and the practical.
“There wasn’t a sadness of leaving a place, but I was aware that we were, sort of, going to be rubbing a lot out,” explains Rita as she reflects on the process of renovating her London flat. There is, however, one telltale sign of its previous life: the heavy wool C&C Milano striped curtains. “I think I spent eight months paying for them,” admits Rita, with a laugh.
