Blenheim Palace is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture set within the glorious Oxfordshire landscape. Built in the early 18th century as a gift to John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough to honour his military triumphs at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704, the palace has been home to the Churchill family ever since. In 1874, Winston Churchill, grandson of the 7th Duke of Marlborough, was born at Blenheim and spent a large amount of time at the palace throughout his life, later proposing to his wife within the stunning grounds. Churchill also became dear friends with Consuelo Vanderbilt, who married into the Churchill family and became Winston's confidant. In this episode of American Viscountess, explore Blenheim Palace with Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke, to see the room where Winston Churchill was born, the stunning portraits of Consuelo Vanderbilt, and more of the hidden secrets at Blenheim.
