This week's topic is How To Prevent Mice In Your RV & Deal With Their Mess. As many of you we've had a few mice issues in the Airstream this summer but for the last 12 months, we've been pest free! Here is how we did it.

To prevent mice from ever entering your RV we recommend 1) sealing all noticeable holes on the underside of the RV especially near stabilizer jacks, the tongue jack or anything else a mouse could climb up. 2) Light! We use a solar rope light under the RV at night. Mice do not like moving around in the light and we haven't had a single mouse in the Airstream since we started doing this. 3) Ultrasonic Pest Repellers. We know a lot of people who swear by these. This is our next purchase if we ever have mice again. 4) Clean around your RV. Cut down high grasses or stay away from bushes if possible.

If mice do get into your RV or Airstream here are a few tips to deal with them. 1) We have only ever had good luck with oldfashioned wooden mouse traps. Not humane but they work. 2) Make sure to clean up with a bleach water solution. Lots of diseases involved with mice poop. 3) Don't store food down low or if you do, make sure it is in sealed containers. 4) Pick up trash, dog food, etc. before going to bed and place it where mice cannot get to it.
