May 2024 it was the first time Anna and I had a chance to see Northern Lights. What was even more amazing, is that we could see them just a short drive from our home in Vancouver.
It was also our first opportunity to photograph and film aurora borealis and we had to make some crazy last minute preparations for it :D
Here are the main points:
Choose a location away from light pollution and go there as early as possible there were literally thousands of people fighting for parking spots, parking along the highway, etc.
Northern Lights are unpredictable forecasts are inaccurate (especially in the areas where aurora is rare) and they change very quickly.
Set your camera or your phone to long exposure and put it on a tripod.
If you want to shoot video, either use a camera or if you're using your phone, set it to a timelapse.
