Time to teach your old dog some new tricks! Crate training an older dog might seem like a challenge, so we’ll show you how to teach your adult dog to love their dog crate. Whether your dog is past his puppy prime, or you’re thinking about adopting an older dog, crate training an older dog is a skill that will prove useful well into their golden years.

It can be helpful to practice crate training at night so your dog can learn that being alone in his crate is AOK! Your older pupper should feel like the crate is his very own zen den. If you’re having issues with your older dog peeing in the house, crate training can come in handy to help reinforce potty training. Learning how to crate train an older dog with separation anxiety is also a great way to help your fur friend feel comfortable and safe at home.

Sometimes older dogs aren’t familiar with crate training because they were not exposed to crates very often throughout puppyhood. Some older dogs have separation anxiety and don’t handle crates or being left alone well. If your older dog isn’t crate trained, that’s ok! We’ll show you how to crate train your dog in a way that will help him feel happy and comfortable.
