He Covered in Burrs, Smell Like Trash, Barely Walk Desperate Lying in The Middle of Road Waiting

Source: Stray Rescue of St. Louis
Summary:
He's just a sack of bones .
This poor old skinny man is covered in burrs, smells as though he's been living in trash, and his back legs aren't working. Although we don't think he was hit by a car, it looks like he might have degenerative myelopathy, which basically means his back limbs and spine are very weak. This is very common among purebred German Shepards. We're getting him all cleaned up (he's soooo thirsty and hungry). Because he has so many burrs, we named him Bill Burr!
He's the sweetest man, we're so glad we have him.
Bill Burr feels like a whole new man! He was laying in the street this morning, covered head to toe in burrs and unable to walk. He smelled like trash, was covered in mats, and so hungry & thirsty.
Our dear friend and superhero foster mom Katie is a groomer over at Grooming by Pam, so she came over today to make sure he got the full spa treatment! He is so handsome and smells so good his fur is shining! He may not have ever gotten a bath in his whole life, but he sure seemed to enjoy it. He feels the love pouring in from all of you and it is giving him strength!

Day 2: Although he can barely walk, he is feeling so much better today. We know everyone was hoping for an update today! Here are some more pictures of him from his rescue and how he's doing today. ❤ He's a very special boy, that's for sure. Currently, he's staying in our clinic as he's on a strict refeeding schedule due to being such a dangerous low weight. He's emaciated, but we'll get him healthy soon. Sadly, he also has degenerative myelopathy, which basically means his back limbs and spine are very weak. This is very common among purebred German Shepards. We'll see if it gets better or if he would do well with booties or wheels.

Day 6: Ohhhh my goodness.
Our friend, supporter, and board member Julie Tristan came over to meet Bill Burr today. Look at the way he's looking up at her!! He has stars in his eyes.
He's feeling so much better after getting an entire weekends' worth of good food, good sleep, and a whole lot of adoration from our staff. He's soaking up every minute of it after being deprived of kindness for so long.
Thank you Julie, for all you do!
Day 25: Bill Burr has spent the last few weeks being loved, eating nutritious Blue Buffalo food, gaining weight and energy. Today, his foster mama got him in some wheels and look at him go!! He hasn’t been able to move this fast in so long, he loves it! His life is beautiful now, the way it should be!
