ℹ The Big Bear Valley has been impacted by the Line Fire that started on 9/5. The fire is at 40,219 acres with 83% contained. There is NO threat to the nesting area.
The Line Fire has been flaring up over the last several days in areas of extreme terrain. A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for Seven Oaks, and a voluntary evacuation warning has been issued for Angelus Oaks (both communities are outside of Big Bear).
The smoke today is coming from the Santa Ana River drainage. Firefighters are working on it. This is an expected fire activity per the USFS.
2 additional large air tankers (LATs) have been requested by air attack. Structure protection is in place in the Santa Ana River drainage, per radio traffic. The smoke column is widely visible from throughout the Inland Empire.
