On May 6th, 1944 destroyer escort USS Buckley was steaming at full speed to fight a German U66 submarine. An American patrol plane found her by radar and sent coordinates to the US Navy hunterkiller group. The USS Buckley found the submarine and engaged it in combat. A hard battle ensued where the submarine was rammed and the fight spilled into handtohand combat on the American ship. In this fight captain of the USS Buckley was forced to issue a command not heard in the US Navy for decades. "Stand by to repel boarders!"
